The ingredients in your soap matter, here's why
It's the end of the day and you are heading home from work. You haven't washed your hands in a few hours, and in that time, they have collected the germs and microbes of every surface you have come into contact with.
When you get home, you head to the closest sink and turn on the faucet. You place your hands under the warm water. They're ready for a nice cleansing lather. You look around and—oh! It’s time to look for a new hydrating bar soap.
Finding a good bar soap is not as easy as it seems. Nowadays, there are so many: organic, natural, chemical free, etc. It can be overwhelming! At first glance, the ingredients look fine. Some sound a bit familiar. But as you keep reading, you start stumbling across words that you can't pronounce and have no clue what they are or what purpose they have. The package says "natural ingredients" so, it should be fine.
Hesitantly, you decide to give the soap a try and buy it. After rinsing your hands, you grab the bar, lather and rinse. Your hands finally feel clean again and smell great. But after a few minutes, you realize that your skin is starting to feel dry. Every time you wash your hands, it irritates your skin more and more. Until finally, you've had enough and stop using it.
This experience has been quite frustrating. Surely, it can't be that hard to make a good cleansing bar soap?!?
Let's face it, at some point or another, we've all been there. We've purchased a supposedly good soap that hydrates but instead, it left our hands feeling dry. This is why understanding what ingredients are in your soap is important. Bar soaps that are truly ethically and naturally made will have well-known hydrating ingredients that cleanse and protect.
Ingredients Matter
Bar soaps can include many ingredients, but usually, the simpler the better. Here at The Bed Sheet Club, we wanted to bring you a hand made bar soap that stays away from harmful ingredients. Instead, we wanted to rely on nature to give your hands the moisture and softness they deserve. So, we did our research and created bar soaps in three different scents honey, coconut, and lavender.
1) Why choose Honey
The natural occurrence of antibacterial properties helps cleanse the skin. Honey, is full of antioxidants that are extremely nourishing and makes the perfect hydrating bar soap. It has palm kernel oil, a rich antioxidant known for anti-aging benefits. This oil is combined with the anti-inflammatory properties of jojoba oil and the restorative capabilities of propolis extract to encourage healthy skin. Also, we included glycerin and trehalose (a sugar found in plants) to keep in moisture. Water is the last ingredient and is used to cleanse and purify the skin.

2) Why choose Coconut
Coconut oil has many uses and is known for its positive effects on the skin. We decided to use this natural ingredient and combine it with others to create the perfect hydration therapy. The first ingredient is coconut oil; it is blended with natural antioxidants found in olive oil, the softening effects of shea butter, and nutrient-rich almond oil. We added trehalose and water for additional hydration, and glycerin to lock in the moisture.
